More about why I love these series as I figure it out!
Alias
It's Celli's fault that I'm into this series at all; frankly, I spend
half the time nit-picking the physics and the costume improbabilities.
Still, it's engaging fluff, and if I keep watching, I might write more
adventures of Sydney & Weiss. (Two stories)
Angel
Five years on, and I'm still addicted to it. I adore Wes, Faith, and
Cordelia; so far, the only one I've written about extensively is Faith.
Keep watching this space, though-- if the series continues to get
weirder, I may feel the need to fix it. (Four stories, plus the
Powers That Be Series)
Babylon 5
I really loved this show when it was on about six years ago. So did Lizbet and Perri. We set
our Original Characters loose in the Babylon 5 universe, with
mixed results. I'm not planning on going back and finishing my long
stories, but two of the three in my corner of the universe are stand-
alone and complete. (Three stories, with character appearances in Lizbet
and Perri's stories)
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Still my favorite and number-of-stories champion. The series may be
over, but the Jossverse lives on; most of my best-known fic is in this
fandom. Crossovers, AU's, comedy, drama. (Twenty-two stories)
Due South
The series that got me over the trauma of Forever Knight, and may
still contain my greatest word-count if you include EXILES. (Eventually,
I will get it all posted. Really). Mostly character pieces, with
two Ray romance stories. (Eight stories)
Forever Knight
Not my first fandom, but my first fandom broken heart, and the one that
really, truly got me into writing fanfic. Also where I met most of the
Horsechicks. As these stories are older, they're not my best work, but
check out "My Evil Twin is a Vampire", which holds up well and is
sillier than just about anything else I've written, and was nominated
for a 1997 Fan-Q Award. Also go to the "Flutterings in the Void" for
further thoughts on this television series. (Ten stories)
Highlander
See Duncan brood. Brood, Duncan, Brood! *whack!* Okay, so much for that
immortal angst... Written about the same time as the Forever
Knight stuff, so of the same quality, but these stories have the
mercy of being shorter and slightly better-written. (Three
stories)
Real Ghostbusters
My First Fandom. Thirteen years ago, yikes. With all the attendant
limitations. At least I had good editors to keep me from making the
worst kind of mistakes. Proceed at your own risk; melodrama abounds.
"Urban Myth" is probably the best of the bunch, as well as the shortest.
(Three stories)
Farscape
I still miss this series, but it was always difficult to write for.
Probably because it was so well-written that it left me few plot hooks
or character hooks to grab onto and work with. Most of my best writing
in this fandom was put into The Tourist's Guide to
the Uncharted Territories anyway, with Perri writing too, and doing
all the kick-ass graphics. Still, "Re-evolution" won fanfic awards,
andI've always liked "Meditations on a Flame" and the drabbles. (Six
stories)
Pirates of the
Carribean
Not up yet, but soon will be: the Final Fate(s) of Bootstrap Bill.
The Powers That Be
This BtVS/AtS series focuses on the little-seen but always-present
Powers That Be, post Season 2 of Angel. Now has its own page and
hosts my stories and Lizbet Lewis's and Celli Lane's stories in the
series. Kudos and thanks to Perri of Neon Hummingbird for the
awesome graphics! (Six stories)
The Pretender
Perri and I have this long (350k) long long Pretender novel that we're
probably never going to finish-- which is a shame, because it's actually
pretty good. Failing ever getting around to finishing and posting that,
I responded to a livejournal challenge and wrote a Miss Parker story.
With that under my belt, maybe more will follow. You never know. (One
story)
Roswell
Great characters, lousy plots. Pity the actors. I wrote one
introspective piece for Jim Valenti, the world's most beleaguered law
enforcement official, and one "airlift"- rescuing the characters from
the bad plot sillines at the end of Season 2. I have no other interest
in this series now, but I still follow the actors and hope they'll turn
up on something I watch. (Two stories)
Stargate SG-1
I got addicted to this show about the end of Season 2, and became
something of a Sam/Daniel 'shipper (first time that ever happened)
because of Cageyklio's and Rachel L.'s stories which were circulating at
the time. Then I went back to the original movie, and became a
Sha'uri/Daniel fan. And let's face it, Jack O'Neill is happily living in
my subconscious with Ray Vecchio, tormenting me for more beer. Probably
the fandom in which I'm known second-best, after the Jossverse stuff.
All of these stories (action, humor, and drama) are on the longer 60k-300k side, so it also
comprises a massive amount of my wordcount. (Five stories)
VR.5
Man, I loved this show. About five to seven years ahead of its time,
badly scheduled (die FOX, die!), difficult to follow without
recaps (which they didn't allow), and my first exposure to Anthony
Stewart Head. I did a video for this (check out the apocalypsewest.com
homepage for details) in memorium, rather than a story, because too many
people had already written good resolution-fic. But I still had to write
Oliver and Duncan interacting, at least once. (One story)
Witchblade
Another rescue-fic. First season Witchblade rocked.
Second-season Witchblade was... disappointing. Not to mention
that getting cancelled left a zillion loose ends dangling. I resolved
them a la' "My Evil Twin" and let the characters get closure. I have one
other story on permanent back-burner in this fandom, a crossover with
Angel, but if I get bored enough, I might work on it. (One
story)
